The Rain Lashed City

There is certainly a very strong urge early morning to see outside the window when it has rained heavily last night and the view outside is rain washed with gleaming green. A similar thing happened here in our city yesterday night and I was lucky enough to pick up my bicycle and loiter aimlessly to check the garden fresh and drenched view of the city – Somehow the air had a blissful charisma which was drawing me out of the comfort to go and explore- It was only after hitting the road I realized the nature has decked up the city with its full might on birthday of Lord Krishna- The cosmic connect was reverberating along the streets- One has to just slow down and feel it .

So hitting the road – The aroma of wet trees welcomes you and at the same time the dry leaves lay a pristine carpet of different patterns to make sure we realize the transient phase of beauty . What was beautiful yesterday is only of little use today- The fresh leaves replace the older and weaker ones to keep the pace with season. The leaves are loaded with water droplets like a pearl necklace and all the plots and fields which were lying unattended with swirling dust pull up a green cover to ask the skies for more of rain. Oops a crow just took off from the branch and I could do a bit a rain dance there.

The trees too adorn a new look – Shining green with a golden red hue of fresh leaves all over. Growth like never seen before during the year .One cannot ignore the patience these trees keep round the year, bearing the intolerable heat and cold to keep the steadiness of life . In fact they only adopt to survive – There would be very few to die due to vagaries of nature .

Coming back to the ride - While from a bird’s eye view the city turns green , getting lower in the altitude you see some colors as lot of tress like Plumeria and Cotton silk bloom in rains , getting still lower ( bike level) the seasonal Rosemary and Balsam just erupt in ever best colors of pink and purple to cover complete the bouquet. This is where I related a practical learning of life . …

The trees who have to grow high and tall or may be taller than tallest don’t spend their energies in blooming as the flowering syndrome in them gives way to growth ,firing growth engines horizontally and vertically as they understand the importance of width and height – More air – More sunlight which ultimately means better flowering sometime later and ultimately better fruits. The shrubs on the other hand know that they cannot grow more than a truck height make merry in rains and blossom . The seasonal plants like Daisies know their mortality and the life cycle – so they waist no time to save for tomorrow and keep spinning the energies on blooming only to perish as soon as the first breeze of winter sets in , early October.

So my take from this solo and quiet ride was simple – It is all about the objective in life . While the nature loves to keep evolving, with changing landscape of city and forest lands it never forgets to prioritize . The rain is same for everyone – some will dance and make merry today and some will quietly grow to bloom later – Sabka time Ayega !!
