The Sleep

You can book a presidential suite in a seven star hotel with top of the line luxury paraphernalia but all that does not guarantee you a good Sleep . – Money alone cannot buy Sleep and often the excess or the desire of excess restrict us from having a sound one.


The unbiased demeanor of sleep has no preferential addresses to address and knocks everyone at her own terms - One needs to have a physical fatigue and mental harmony to enjoy Sleep and get forwarded without using a time machine . The night draws the curtains, the bed blurs the nerve-wracking calls of future and rasping pages from the past – The Sleep prevails !! A good nap after a day’s long hard work is quintessential . You can wake up feeling like a king or you may wake up feeling like a slave of your lassitude, the night well slept is equally important as the day well spent.

The same sleep which may be elusive today was completely naive and the most frequently visited friend when we were a new born. While life began with waking up and loving the mother’s face, the days would not have been possible without rocking in the cradle of sleep. No one taught us this art– we all were preinstalled with multiple sleep modes and only mothers would best understand the complex manual of its patterns and algorithms. Sleep keeps nursing us throughout the life as a dutiful guardian, every day . A power nap at any age is a practical punctuation to declutter our minds.

The schools were the earliest whistles to set harness on the sleeping binge. They were the first ones to make us understand the importance of Clock and then everything we had in life was fun but time bound. How else would we have ever realized that there is something as beautiful as sunrise to wake up and see. Having practiced that through early years, the sachets of sleep were ever handy and the leap of sleep was always easy to take- we could sleep in the school bus, in the recess breaks or even a simple command of Heads down was a trigger enough to slip in the sweet torpor and all that, without snoring ! The sleep mellowed with our age and released her reigns in our youth to let us explore the new energy levels and then to escape extinction from late night parties in late thirties – The Sleep reinvented itself as a necessity in our Work Life Balance matrix .


God gifted us with two paradoxical gems- Sleep and Snore. Sleep for your good self and Snore for people around you to stay awake. They say “Laugh and the world will laugh with you , Snore and you will sleep alone” . In case you feel embarrassed of the nocturnal orchestra you play- Make sure you are the first one to fall sleep to avoid reciprocation from someone else . Afterall, one can be like an old farm generator shuddering the silence of the night with rhythmic snoring chimes and the rapid air circulation to the intestines will also lead to some the gaseous exhausts from the guts–Snoring thus creates a private space for everyone. Sleep well Sleep tight – Snoring also kills mosquitoes in the fight!!

People who say they love sleeping like a baby usually don’t have one. It is a God gifted skill we can execute with our eyes closed but sometimes goes missing in some corridors of life and since it is a 24X7 service there is an equally active support system to help you in the process . The plumbers of slumber- The Dreams !!- They may fix the flow or break the flow of your sleeping patterns – Dreams can give everything you ever wanted or dared to possess or take away everything you have- within a blink- just a step short of the dreaded disaster and we wake up with a thud on the pillow !! Imagine the power of Virtual reality we have been enjoying since childhood and then what scares is the AI of these plumbers- They are like screensavers to our chain of thoughts during the day and on the darker side, deepest of the fears are streamed live without any buffering. But as we grow old our memory only filters the bad dreams, replays them with every sip over the morning tea and then there are Good Morning messages to make the days better 😊
